The simple trick to reduce rice calories by half
There's a trick to reducing the calories in rice by half and it couldn't be simpler. After cooking rice, take it to the fridge and reheat it, reveals the Parade site.
According to dietist Jillian Reece, quoted by the same publication, rice has a high digestible starch content, quickly decomposed and digested by the organism.
“Cooling rice allows some starch to recrystalize in a form that resists digestion. The longer the rice is cooled, ideally at least 12 to 24 hours, the more resistant starch is formed“, explains.
Since resistant starch is not so well digested in the small intestine, the amount of calories the body absorbs is reduced, adds Tracey Brigman, also dietist.
The article also states that the same applies to other starch foods such as pasta, bread and potatoes.
Rice: And not to get stuck in the pan?
Have you ever had the rice glued to the pot? It is a very common problem, but fortunately there is a simple trick to prevent this from happening. The best? All you need is lemon juice, say Tasting Table experts, quoted in Huffpost, aggregator of blogs.
Want to try it? After placing the rice and water in a pot, even before boiling, add some lemon juice and thus make sure that the rice becomes “perfect and cute consistency”.
According to experts, lemon, “in addition to preventing rice from agglomerated, makes it appear brighter and it is said that it also improves its texture”.
