Mikel Arteta took advantage of this Friday's press conference forecasting to what is the meeting of the ninth Premier League journey, between the 'your' Arsenal and Liverpool, to point out the finger to Max Dowman, who, mid-week, received expulsion order, in the defeat suffered in the visit to Fleetwood Town, the fourth echelon of English football, which dictated the elimination of the League Cup.
Questioned about how he publicly rebuked the player of only 16 years old, the Spanish shot: “You need to understand the context, the relationship I have with him and what we talked about before we go to the game. I don't know. I have many reactions. If you see my father and mother's reactions with me, one day, you'll say I don't like them. For me, it was the best possible reaction to be what I am”.
“ You always want to see the best reaction and the most beautiful. You want to see the reaction of his teammates when you have to play with ten players? What are you waiting for? I don't know. The same applies to those of the England selection who are his age. What's their reaction? That's the reaction. That is the level and that is the reaction, and, be it right or wrong, it is the reaction ", started by affirming.
“ You know what my reaction is when I don't win? I get pissed, really, so we need to be prepared for that. This is the environment and this is the reality. Otherwise, we're at Disneyland. We're not at Disneyland. We are in the Premier League, at this level, and we take so much care of it that you can't even imagine, but at the same time we'll demand it more than anyone else ", he continued.
“ He has to earn the right to play, otherwise what will the rest of the boys tell me? We have to be fair. We go ahead”, completed the helmsman of the English champions in title, in statements reproduced by the television station ESP N.
“ I am disappointed that I have not been decriminalized, after reviewing what happened.”
Mikel Arteta also assumed that he was “very disappointed” with the fact that the English Football Federation (FA) did not accept the appeal presented by Arsenal against the red card displayed to Max Dowman: “Specially, considering the reckless entrances he suffered. Then the reaction is minimal in relation to the action. I am disappointed that I have not been decriminalized, after reviewing what happened, to be honest”.
“It is what it is. We have to put all the arguments on the table to make a case. It wasn't just about action, that's obvious. When you look at that in slow motion, the previous action and Max's action, you obviously get a different opinion. In addition, I think you have to read the context of the player, the age and what happened before”, he concluded.
