A popular assembly of the Lisbon camp today ended about 7pm, after just over an hour of open microphone before thousands of people who joined in Rossio.

Testimonials of personal violence, appeals for the right to the demonstration and some interventions of the Lisbon camp organization marked about an hour and a half of an open microphone.

One of the leaders of the organization, already in one of the final interventions, directly held the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, responsible for “the escalation of violence in these protests”, and the wounded.

“ The more they attack us the more we come back in strength. ... We have a cowardly government trying to lure violence into a peaceful process. We do not break”, he said.

“Montenegro, you are directly responsible for the escalation of violence in these protests. The wounded. Show your face”, he said, to the microphone.

After the closing of the popular assembly, without voting on measures or initiatives, the thousands of people who were in Rossio began to demobilize, but a part remained for the concert of the camp orchestra which should begin at 7:30 p.m.

Today there will still be a popular canteen.

On Monday the popular assembly of the Lisbon camp in Rossio will meet again at 9 p.m.

Dozens met in Funchal in solidarity with demonstrators

A few dozen people gathered today in the Funchal Municipal Garden, in a popular assembly on housing shortages, and approved a vote of solidarity with the protesters targeted by the police force in Lisbon and Porto.
