O minister Adjunct and the State Reform stated today that it aims to reduce between 60% to 70% of permit times in housing with the use of artificial intelligence (IA), through the license platform.
Gonçalo Matias spoke in the Committee on Budget, Finance and Public Administration with that of the State Reform and Local Power, in the context of the assessment, in the specialty of the proposal of the State Budget for 2027 (OE2027).
Licensing is the new Portuguese AI-based public platform created to streamline and dematerialize licensing processes (urban, industrial and environmental) and will advance in pilot this year.
This platform allows us to save “a lot of time for people and businesses, ensuring much faster licensing,” the governor said.
“ Let me make a reference to this, of course, the issue of housing, all studies show that one of the causes of the housing crisis was time delay in licensing” and if it were to build less and less speed, he argued.
“ Faster licensing is an important tool to combat the housing crisis, the ruler pointed out.
Gonçalo Matias has shown that since 1 October the Legal System of Urbanization and Edification (RJUE) has been in place, which with the platform are already allowing to combat these difficulties, without “mining” the skills of municipal councils.
“Our goal is to reduce licensing times using artificial intelligence and technology by 60 to 70%,” said the minister, who stressed that the “State serves to serve people.”.
