O WhatsApp announced this Tuesday, day 25, the launch of an update that has a number of new security features with the aim of users reinforcing the protection of their respective.
One of the novelties is in the way the two factor authentication (2FA) of WhatsApp. So far, users using 2FA had only the option to choose a six-digit PIN code.
With this change, it is possible to choose an alphanumeric password, longer and with special characters to make PIN (even) harder to guess.
Another novelty concerns the access keys. This WhatsApp feature allows users to enter the app using biometric authentication used to unlock the mobile phone: whether it is done by face recognition or by fingerprint sensor.
As for the novelty of this update, users will be able to add more than just one access key and, as the techCrunch site, it is a particularly useful possibility if you have iOS and Android devices.
Finally, WhatsApp also added more information if you receive a call from someone who is not on your contact list. From the moment you make this update, a call from a unknown contact will indicate whether the sender number is from another country or is in a group where the user is also.
It is important to stress that these novelties apply to all WhatsApp accounts and not just to premium subscribers that were released in May – WhatsApp Plus – which adds a number of extra features related to customization.
