Ua plane with four people on board disappeared while flying over the coast of the Bahamas, in the Caribbean, to Florida, in the United States, this Monday. On board they followed a couple and two grandchildren.
The alert was issued by the victims' relatives. And the Bahamas authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard have already confirmed the incident, revealing that the device, a five-seat PA-34 Piper, has stopped signaling about 20 kilometers west of Andros Island.
Grandparents and grandkids would travel in a small device and return home in Florida.
The people on board, confirmed Silvia Larrau, a family cousin, are: 80-year-old Mario Lamar, who was flying the plane, 79-year-old Lily Lamar, and her two grandchildren, Christian and Sophie Sosa, 22 and 28, respectively.
The four members of the same family would have spent a few days at a second residence in Great Harbour Clay to celebrate Labor Day (signed on the first weekend of September). The group would have a group of WhatsApps in which Sophia would have warned them that they were taking off to return home. However, hours later none of the elements showed signs of life or responded to the group's messages.
The man, the family says, was a pilot with experience who kept the device up to date.
According to FlightAware, the plane's altitude dropped from 10,000 feet to 3,700 feet in just three minutes, reports the Miami Herald.
Search operations include land, air and sea searches. The couple's son participates in the search, walking the area on a family boat, reports The Independent.
Despite joint mobilization, search teams had to stop operations due to bad weather.
The moment the plane disappeared from the radar, there was a storm going on. It's not clear if weather conditions played any part in the accident.
