O Arrive/Azores said today that the parliamentary bench vote on the Regional Plan and Budget 2027 “will only be known after the discussion of the documents in plenary” and warns that “it does not accept cuts in the priorities” of the Azoreans.
“ The Members of the Aquida will meet next Monday, to analyze in depth the strategic documents for the region in 2027, not foreseeing, however, the sense of vote, which will only be known after the discussion of the documents in plenary ", said the party in statement.
The Arrive/Azores note was released after hearing the members of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM), held on Thursday and Friday, in the specialized committees of the Legislative Assembly.
The Azorean parliament is composed of 57 deputies, representing eight political forces: (23 from the PSD, 23 from the PS, five from the Aquida, two from the CDS-PP, one from the IL, one from the BE, one from the PAN and one from the PPM).
The party ensures that it “does not accept cuts in Azorean priorities” for next year.
“Budget cuts in key areas do not satisfy the Arrivo/Azores, which understands that after the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), it is time to leverage the economy of the region, without excuses,” the statement says.
However, the Aquira/Açores states that the analysis of the Plan and Budget for 2027 points “in the opposite direction”, stressing that areas such as housing “have brutal cuts, at a time when the lack of affordable housing in the Azores, and in the country, is an emergency”.
José Pacheco, leader of the Aquixa/Açores and also parliamentary leader, says in the note that the Regional Government, led by the Social Democrat José Manuel Bolieiro, “is cutting to the chase”, stressing that next year the value of the “house budget will be cut to half” and support for the construction of new houses “will have a 70% cut”.
“With increased expenditure and no prospect of increasing revenue, 2027 is not easy for the Azoreans,” is also mentioned by the party that does not foresee “facilitities” for the regional economy.
The pre-proposal for the Azores Plan for 2027 provides for an overall investment of EUR 1,057 million, EUR 650 million of the Regional Government’s “direct responsibility”.
The discussion and vote on the Plan and Budget of the Azores for 2027 will take place this month at the Regional Legislative Assembly, in the city of Horta, on Faial Island.
