O Spotify recently announced that as of next month, she will start identifying artists who create music using Artificial Intelligence tools and, according to Variety magazine, Apple intends to follow this same strategy with its Apple Music.
The publication says that Apple is working on a new label called “Made With AI” (Made With AI) for artists to adopt if “a substantial part of the content” has been created using the Artificial Generative Intelligence.
However, there is no forecast for this new label to be released on Apple Music. Remember, however, that this is not Apple's first move for streaming service users to know which songs were created with Artificial Intelligence.
No start of the year, Apple created an identification system for songs generated with Artificial Intelligence, but at the time criticisms were pointed out to the company because the system depends that the record companies have this initiative.
Spotify will start identifying music created with AI
The Swedish music platform Spotify announced the introduction, starting next month, of a new label to identify identities of artists generated by artificial intelligence (IA).
From mid-September, the label “AI Persona” will appear in some artist profiles, indicating to the listeners of the platform that the identity of an artist may have been generated by artificial intelligence and that does not correspond to a real person, Spotify informed in a statement, quoted by the EFE agency.
The platform considers that music consumers in Spotify “must be able to trust that the artist behind a song is really who it says it is, something more essential than ever in the age of the generational AI.” This new label represents another step in the Swedish company’s goal of making the platform “more transparent and reliable” in this new context, after the release of “Verified by Spotify” (verified by Spotify), “SongDNA” (DNA of Songs) and “AI Credits” (IA Credits), which let you know how a song was created, as well as the “Protection of the Artist’s Profile”.
By default, Spotify will not include “AI Personas” music in its editorial or algorithmic recommendations, indicates the platform in the statement.
“ Although we believe that all artists should have creative freedom to decide how they want to perform, Spotify’s programming is focused on giving visibility to the music of real artists who are building a professional career in the music industry,” the company said.
Artists may indicate that their profile represents an “AI Persona” through Spotify for Artists.
However, the platform will not only rely on self-declaration and will also analyze the profiles of the artists to identify those whose public identity – that is, the identity that an artist presents in his profile, including the name and images – seems to represent a photorealistic identity generated by AI.
The platform will start with artists who have reached certain audience levels, so that these labels cover the vast majority of artist profiles visited by users.
In the profiles where the Spotify review team applies the label, artists will be warned and will have the opportunity to identify themselves as “AI Persona” or to present a challenge, the company explains.
Spotify will also give listeners the opportunity to signal profiles of artists who consider representing “AI Personas”.
