O Sunderland will be preparing to return to cargo by Geny Catamo, already in the next winter transfer market, after last summer watching Sporting reject two concrete approaches, according to the latest information, this Wednesday by the British portal TEAMtalk.
The black cats brought to the José Alvalade Stadium a bid, first, worth EUR 30 million, plus EUR 10 million in bonuses, but, in the face of the resistance shown by the leadership led by Frederico Varandas, it rose the stop to EUR 33 million, plus EUR 7 million in bonuses, which also proved insufficient.
The green and white structure insisted that it would only be willing to give up the Mozambican international in return for EUR 40 million (although its contract, valid until June 2029, is ‘struggled’ by a termination clause worth EUR 60 million), so dialogue between both parties ended up falling apart.
Still, the current 20th and last ranked Premier League refuse to ‘shoot the towel to the ground’, and they will have made the 25-year-old player the favorite target for next January, to the point that they have definitely put aside the interest they enjoyed in Matías Soulé, a Portuguese teammate Rodrigo Mora, in AS Roma.
Even so, it adds the publication, competition will not be lacking, especially in the main stage of English football, where also Newcastle, Everton, Leeds United, Bournemouth and Brentford have been following the exhibitions that the extreme has been initialling, from lion to chest, over the last few weeks.
This growing ‘harassment’ on the part of sets of Lands of His Majesty arises following that which is already the best season start of the entire African career, which adds two goals and four assists after the ten official meetings in which it was used by Rui Borges.
Blackberry attentive to English interest in Geny Catamo
Geny Catamo, remember, arrived at Amora in 2018, coming from Black Bulls, demonstrating potential size that, just the following season, was recruited by Sporting. However, at the time, only 25% of the economic rights of the Mozambican international came under the green and white structure.
The lions never hid the intention of strengthening the position, as far as this subject is concerned, but the truth is that they were only able to do so in July 2025, when they disbursed something like EUR 2.25 million for 65% more of the player's pass, thus holding 90% of it.
In the margin of increasing preponderance in Rui Borges' plans, the extreme has been negotiating the renewal of the current contract, which remains valid until June 2029, with a termination clause of EUR 60 million and an order of EUR 600 thousand net per year.
