O Lusa's Board of Directors has today extended the interim leadership of the Information Directorate of the Portuguese news agency for a week, bringing forward the new composition of this body.
In a statement, the Board of Directors “thanks journalists Nuno Simas and Maria de Deus Rodrigues for their willingness to continue leading the interim Information Directorate (DI) until November 6.”.
In a statement signed by the three elements of the administration, Joaquim Carreira, Ana Alves and Luís Ferreira Lopes, it is said that the leadership of the new Directorate of Information will be published soon, “following the legal procedures, namely the request of the opinions of the CoR [Red Board] and the ERC [Regulatory Entity for Social Communication]”.
The then deputy director of information of Lusa, Maria de Deus Rodrigues and Nuno Simas, agreed to take the interim management of the agency until October 31, at the request of the Board of Directors, as it had been communicated to the editorial on the last day 08.
Following the departure of the Director of Information, Luísa Meireles, the two deputies then claimed to have taken the decision on behalf of the “feeling of collective responsibility and the needs of writing at this stage of transition”.
