Deight young people were arrested and three minors were identified on Saturday, outside a commercial center in the district of Lisbon, for the crime of theft on the public road, using the threat, revealed today the PSP.

Following appeals on social networks to an alleged “rebellion” in shopping centers, the Public Security Police (PSP) intensified on Saturday the policing of visibility “in some of the largest commercial areas of the Lisbon district, in order to prevent attempts to rob or disrupt public order”.

In a statement, the PSP reported that, in preventive actions during Saturday, three young people were identified inside one of the commercial surfaces, “because they are inside a store, filming for social networks”.

Two young people were also arrested, both 16 years old, and three minors were identified, between 14 and 15 years old, outside a commercial center, “for the practice of the crime of theft committed on the public road, using the threat,” said the police, adding that from the rapid intervention of the PSP it was possible to recover the stolen coat and also seize a mask and a balaclava that the detainees used to conceal the identity.

Two other minors, 14 and 15 years old, were identified because they had 64 pyrotechnic artifacts in their possession, said the PSP, adding that four more young people were identified, between 14 and 17 years old, by the possession of bottles of muriatic acid and aluminium paper.

According to the PSP, this reinforcement of police prevention actions proved to be “proficient”, and “there was no record of disorders or alteration of public order in shopping centers in the district of Lisbon”.

In this context, the police will maintain the effort to monitor and monitor the phenomenon of mass mobilization, including through social networks, which calls for the organisation of gatherings and disturbance of order in these trade areas, ensuring the tranquility and security of those who work and move to these places.

On Saturday, the Colombo shopping center had a reinforcement of the PSP policing at the request of the management itself, Lusa told Commissioner Ana Carvalho, following the news and appeals on social networks for an alleged “rebellion”.

Official source of Colombo Center indicated to Lusa in writing that “it has knowledge of the contents to circulate on social networks, and the subject is given to the competent authorities for investigation and action”.

In the last week they went viral on social networks and were news calls and posters about an alleged “rebellion” at Colombo Center, called for October 31, at 17:30, aiming at “invasion” and looting stores, such as JD Sports, and the “vandalization” of that commercial space.

The theme gained prominence with the complaints made by several accounts of leaders of the Aquimá party and far-right groups, who amplified the alleged appeals to rebellion that would be circulating in the TikTok and in closed networks as groups of WhatsApp.

Lusa Verifica, a fact-checking service of Lusa news agency, analyzed dozens of publications and assessed that it is “True, but...”, since several of these publications were made by young content creators just to generate clicks, which does not mean that some kind of contempt cannot actually occur.

“Prevention”. Three young people identified by PSP in Colombo store

Three young people were identified by the PSP inside a shop at Centro Comercial Colombo, in Lisbon, after performing a direct social network. The intervention took place following calls for an alleged “rebellion” in space, which eventually did not register.
