Oelectricians working at the Lisbon City Council (CML) today delivered a memorandum in which they ask the local authority to pay the night supplement on supplementary work, Lusa told the agency union source.
The workers were gathered in plenary this morning in Praça do Município and about 11:00 delivered to representatives of the mayor, Carlos Coins (PSD), documentation on the payment of the night supplement on supplementary work when it falls on the night period, between 20:00 and 07:00.
“ The workers delivered the document that attests that the CML is in debt to the electricians of the municipality and require the immediate regularization of the payment of the night supplement on the supplementary work ", told Lusa Nuno Almeida, of the Workers Union of the Municipality of Lisbon (STML).
According to the trade unionist, this situation is resolved by law enforcement, since, in 2014, the CML made the decision to pay, for the extraordinary work done by all workers at night, the respective supplement.
“ In 2014 it was possible to reach this agreement with the chamber, but there were some workers to whom it was never applied, also perhaps due to lack of knowledge of the workers themselves, who were not attentive to the situation ", said.
The understanding “gave fulfillment to Article 161(1) of the General Law on Public Works”, which states that “night work should be paid with an increase of 25% in the remuneration of the equivalent work provided during the day”, according to the union.
Nuno Almeida recalled that this understanding was still “verted in the Collective Agreement of Public Employer (ACEP) between the CML and the union, published in March 2016 and in the two revisions of the ACEP”.
“About a year ago we found that the agreement was not being complied with and we signaled several times with the municipal management’s human resources, and we do not understand why the same law does not apply to everyone. [...] It is perhaps a purely technical issue, but the workers are tired of waiting and decided to present the problem to the executive ", said.
According to Nuno Almeida, the problem is not in the understanding, it is “the unwillingness of someone in the structure of human resources, who does not want to apply this to about 80 electric workers in the chamber”.
