Asked whether large social media platforms should be more regulated, the member of the Obama Foundation (associated with the former Democratic President of the United States) argued that yes, but warned that this alone would not be enough.
“ It absolutely regulates. At the same time, I think it cannot be the only way, because regulation implies a very long process ", argued, in statements on the margins of the 10th edition of the Estoril Conferences, event that today began on the Carcavelos campus of Nova SBE (New University of Lisbon).
According to the businesswoman, to combat the misinformation launched by governments such as that of the American President, Donald Trump, it would be necessary to create a whole ecosystem of responsibility.

One of the partners with whom the project was developed was the BBC public station, with which they have been working for two years to identify texts that may have been manipulated.
“The text is constantly manipulated,” he said, explaining that this manipulation is not always negative, but may come from cuts or editions.
“ The technology we've developed makes this process of matching what I'm saying to my source very quickly. When the journalist certifies that this is the source, if the article is edited or if the source is modified, the passport stops working. Therefore, there is this accountability mechanism based on the source also ", detailed.
The expert added that this is an initiative that is increasingly involving media groups and not only.
