Sfollowing the study “A Real-World Game Plan for AI in Renewable Energy”, the adoption of AI solutions can allow increases of 15% to 25% in workers’ productivity and improvements of one to three percentage points in energy efficiency, “through greater availability of assets and more effective operational execution”, the consultant states in a statement.
Energy companies have plans to intensify investment in AI, but BCG warns that value capture “is limited in many organizations.”.
According to the report, the blockade mainly results from the difficulty in scaling initiatives beyond the pilot phase, integrating them into real workflows and associating them with clearly defined business metrics.
In view of the findings of the study, the consultant argues that renewables companies must be selective in the way they allocate capital to the AI, giving priority to “initiatives capable of producing visible returns within six to twelve months” rather than programs “excessively broad or focused only on technological experimentation”.
