Au.S. Armed Forces killed five people today, alleged “narcoterrorists,” in a new attack on a speedboat in the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Southern Command (Southcom) indicated.

“ On October 27, under the direction of the Southern Command (Southcom), the Western Hemisphere Joint Mission Force carried out a lethal kinetic attack on a high-speed vessel operating along identified drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific,” said Florida-based agency X.

The Southern Command stated that “confirmed intelligence has revealed the active participation of the vessel in drug trafficking” and that “the operation has shot down five narcoterrorists,” although it has not provided further details about the area in which the operation took place, the countries involved or the identity of the dead.

The last U.S. attack of this nature dates from October 4, when the U.S. Armed Forces killed four people on a boat in the Caribbean Sea, also for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Since the beginning of these attacks last year, under orders of American President Donald Trump, the US Armed Forces have killed at least 238 people on 72 vessels, according to a survey by the Office in Washington for Latin American Affairs (WOLA), an organization of civil society.

Although civil associations, Democratic congressmen and some Republicans have classified these attacks as illegal, the Trump Government argued that their actions are justified, arguing that they are in an “armed conflict” against cartels and terrorist organizations linked to drug trafficking from Latin America.

At the same time, Trump’s “Escudo das Américas” initiative brings together almost 20 Latin American and Caribbean leaders to form a new military coalition against the “narcoterrorists”.
