Amar Dedic, sold by Benfica to Newcastle on the transfer market last summer for more than 30 million euros, saw his name involved in a great controversy in England and all because he decided to ‘imitate’ Robin Hood. Confused? We explained the story.

The information was revealed this Thursday by the British daily Daily Mail. According to this source, Amar Dedic was at the center of a state-of-the-art police operation in Northumberland, England, and all because he was caught with bows and arrows in the vehicle in a tourist area. The situation happened on Wednesday afternoon.

As it turns out, a witness alerted the authorities to the presence of two individuals with that gun by an albufeira in Harlow Hill outside Newcastle, which generated almost immediately a major public alarm.

The British police were not half-measured and mobilized at least six police cars to the site, some of them uncharacterized, including armed response units. The 24-year-old Bosnian defense and his accompanying friend were eventually intercepted by the authorities about 11 kilometres from the site in the exclusive Darras Hall condominium.

After ‘catching’ the pair, the authorities proceeded to search the car where the two followed, as well as the seizure of the material. The player questioned by the authorities, but was not arrested and neither was any judicial measure decreed.

At one point, Newcastle goalie Mark Gillespie and former defense Paul Dummett, passing through the area by chance, arrived at the scene while the police were talking to Amar Dedic, stopping to offer help.

Newcastle will not punish Amar Dedic

Authorities even came to the conclusion that Amar Dedic and his friend had fired a few arrows, even though they did not realize what the target was. In view of this data, the police concluded that the equipment was intended for recreational purposes and that there was no danger to the population. It should be noted that in England it is expressly forbidden to hunt any animal or bird using bow and arrows or beast.

“Shortly after 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, we received a complaint about two men transporting a bow and arrows as they walked along a trail along the albufeira on Military Road in the Harlow Hill area. The agents appeared at the scene, subsequently stopped a vehicle in the Darras Hall area and seized a bow and arrows. At this stage, it is understood that they were for recreational use and there was no threat to the public. Investigations are still ongoing,” said Northumberland police spokesman, in a statement.

The Daily Mail also writes that Amar Dedic will not receive any punishment from Newcastle. This season, the Bosnian side adds four assists in 10 games by the English club.
