“ Nã fall into another false promise of the picanha, because Lula, in an act of despair, just made a decree, even knowing that it is forbidden during the elections ", declared.
The Government of the Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, announced today a 15% update on the Bolsa Família, the main social program of income transfer for the poorest.
“ 17 days to the election, he thinks he's gonna win someone by refitting the Bolsa Família. He knows it can't. But it is a despair, because he knows he has already lost because the next president of the Republic is Flavio Bolsonaro ", completed.
Since the Bolsa Família was relaunched in 2023, the government's main income transfer program to the poorest has not undergone adjustments.
According to the Brazilian Government, the measure aims to restore inflationary losses as provided by law and, because of this, does not violate the country's electoral legislation.
However, sources of the circle of Flávio Bolsonaro, cited by the Brazilian press, said that the campaign of the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro will not trigger the Electoral Justice to avoid wear with the elector.
Lula da Silva, in turn, said that the program “is to guarantee food on the table, dignity and opportunity for families to move forward”.
“ It is our duty to preserve the purchasing power of those who need it most. And we are doing this responsibly: the update fits in the Budget, without increasing the total limit of government expenditure ", wrote on a social network.
The adjustment, which comes into force in October, should benefit more than 19 million families, according to Lula's economic team.
The impact of the update on public coffers will be 5.8 billion reais (about €975.49 million) this year, and 22.7 billion reais (€3.81 billion) in 2027.
According to the country's main polling institutes, Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro follow technically tied in the second round, but this time with a different scenario: the son of the former president appears numerically ahead of the PT.
On October 4, Brazilians vote to choose the President, governors, senators and deputies. If no candidate can reach at least 50% of the votes, voters will be called back to the polls for a second round scheduled for October 25.
