Nthe statement sent, the West Highway reported that Flixbus informed her that “it will cease to operate at the terminal in Peniche from September 14, in a decision exclusively of its responsibility and formally communicated to the terminal manager by email sent on September 4, 2026”.
FlixBus had permission to access the Peniche terminal in the district of Leiria since June 2022, where until now it held eight regular daily hours.
Since the completion of the terminal improvement works in 2024, “no new schedule requests have been sent to the terminal manager” by Flixbus.
“We were therefore surprised by the unilateral decision to replace the road terminal, where the operation always took place in a stable and efficient manner, by the use of the Court’s Stop,” said the West Highway.
The transport operator lamented this option and warned that the stop already registered “a high occupation, welcoming urban and interurban careers of the Oeste public network CIM, including school, intermunicipal services and connections to Lisbon, a total of 117 touches on business day”.
According to the West Highway, “this decision will generate overlapping services, affect punctuality and create operational and security constraints on passenger boarding and landing.”.
