Nthe United States of America, over 220,000 Ford F-150 pickup units are being picked up for repair. The problem in question may cause the fuel tank to drop in motion.
According to the note from the National Road Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 223.472 vehicles are covered, although it is estimated that only one percent has the defect. Not all cars produced in the period that the “recall” covers have the defect that leads to this action.
Fittings of the front fuel tank straps will not have been correctly inserted into the vehicle chassis. According to the NHTSA statement, this problem “may cause fuel leakage, which may increase the risk of fire or the engine shutting down due to a loss of gasoline“.
It is also a potentially dangerous situation for other cars, with no indication of warning signs. There are also no records of major accidents, with fatalities or injuries.
The solution will be simple, through the correct placement of the fuel tank belts. The vehicles with the problem were produced between January 2023 and last August 27 – not by order of VIN (identification number).
It should be recalled that, in Portugal, the collection actions are communicated to the owner of the vehicle. But they can also be consulted online by model, via VIN or registration, at the Recall portal.
