Next year comes the new electric pick-up that opens a new era in Ford. The name has recently been revealed, as well as the projected price – which will be below the equivalent of about 25 thousand euros.

Aannounced last year, ford's new average 100 percent electric pick-up it's getting closer and closer. With the planned debut for 2027, now has its name and price revealed.
His name is Fathom, a name explained by the manufacturer with the entry in the English dictionary: “Noun: 1. A unit of length equal to six feet, used to measure the depth of water; 2. Arcaic for the wingspan of a person's extended arms. Verb: 1. Measure the depth of; probe; 2. To penetrate and come to understand”.
On the other hand, Ford clarified what it intends with this nomenclature: “Vehicles like the F-150 have gained much worship with this convention of names. But we committed ourselves to doing things differently with this truck from the start. In your DNA. And so we wanted to choose a name to give her personality, a soul and make her a character in the lives of our customers”.
Ford’s history of car designation was also taken into account, concluding that “each option came up with a specific implication, which might not fit with the new electric pick-up”. Two copywriters came to the name Fathom, one of hundreds of options that were gradually excluded until Fathom prevailed.
For the United States of America, ford Fathom will be based on the new Universal EV Platform platform – that will equip more future 100 percent electric models of the manufacturer in that country. It aims to be an efficient and common solution to several cars in order to reduce development costs and, consequently, prices for electric cars.
It is announced as being more spacious for the up to five occupants than a Toyota RAV4, also promising a large touch screen, a front load frunk and even two-way vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
Ford Fathom will also have BlueCruise (including integrated Apple Maps navigation) and it will be possible to connect smartphones via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The projected price is 28,350 dollars, equivalent to about 24,571 euros at the current exchange rate.
