Education, arts, literature, territory and journalism are the five key themes of each of the regional seminars, whose programs bring together researchers, writers, journalists, artists and other voices of culture and public life.

The aim of the institute is to “create an open space for meeting, reflection and debate in the region on some of the major issues of today”, thus continuing “the humanistic, cultural and civic legacy of Fernando Paulouro Neves”.

The five seminars to be held in this period aim to be “an opportunity for reflection and deepening on issues of relevant historical, cultural and ethical interest, providing a space for sharing knowledge and dialogue among participants”.

Before starting this cycle, on September 23, it takes place at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), in Covilhã, the colloquium “The game of moral precepts in the 16th century”, integrated into the project Mission Values XXI, which has as speaker Jorge Nuno Silva.

The first seminar, October 2, will be at Fundão Professional School, with a panel on the subject “Think again the education to defend the democratic school”, with Manuel Sarmento, Fernando Abade, Francisco Soares, João Ruivo and Patrícia Costa, and a second moment on “Language and idea of playing at the service of education in modern times: From João de Barros to Father António Vieira”, which has as speakers José Eduardo Franco and Aida Lemos.

“Who is afraid of AI?” is the motto of the second seminar, which takes place on October 3, at the Teatro Clube in Penamacor, where José Manuel Castanheira, Ana Maria Pereirinha, João Vaz de Carvalho and Manuel San Payo intervene.

On this day, and in the same place, an exhibition will be opened and presented the book “Fernando Paulouro Neves – April: A thousand reasons for hope”, presented by João Lopes Nunes.

On October 9, at the António Salvado Municipal Library in Castelo Branco, the third seminar is held, with the theme “The end of literature”, which has as speakers Arnaldo Saraiva, Helena Buescu and João Luís Barreto Guimarães.

The auditorium of the Eduardo Lourenço Library, in Guarda, hosts on the 10th the seminar “Cuidar of the territory”, with Alcino Couto, Álvaro Domingues, João Ferrão, João Leitão, Paulo Fernandes, Rui Jacinto and Valentin Cabero.

This cycle ends on October 12, again at UBI, with the seminar “Colective Poem”, where Maria Flor Pedroso, António Caeiro, António Valdemar, Fernando Gabriel, Joaquim Duarte, Nuno Francisco and Patrícia Figueiredo intervene.

In addition to the five seminars, other initiatives will be made known “that prolong the spirit of the Forum and the activity of the IFPN, including actions related to education and values, memory, literature and territory”.

This includes the new route of the Fernando Paulouro Neves Roadmaps — Geography of Memory, entitled “The Great Adventure of Living”, and the second edition of “Prohibited Words: Young people and censorship”, included in the Mission 21.
