According to new information, Google is working on a new feature that will allow users to order from a restaurant directly on Maps.
The publication says that in version 26.27.00.941319029 of Google Maps for Android, signs were found in the code that point to the possibility of ordering lunch/dinner while the trip is still being made.
Allegedly, this new feature will take advantage of Google's Artificial Intelligence, Gemini, to understand the user's request and ensure an organic interaction with the platform.
As useful as it is to order this type without leaving Maps, it is not yet clear whether the system will work natively in the application or will depend on another specialized service in the area.
On the other hand, it is clear that the idea seems to be to make Gemini an Artificial Intelligence capable of functioning as an agent – performing tasks by the user autonomously.
It is not known whether this feature will be implemented in the final version of Google Maps and will pass the testing phase.
Even if Google decides to approve it and tries to integrate it into Google Maps, there will certainly be a period when it will be available for a very limited number of users and only in some territories, admitting that all restaurants accept to be part of this program.
