Government gives more support to sectors most affected by fuel

The government extended the support of 10 cents per litre to professional diesel by the end of the year and re-edited support to taxis, firefighters and the social sector in a package of EUR 38 million for sectors most affected by fuel.

“ Vwe are re-editing this support in order to reduce the impact of the increase in fuel costs,” said the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, in a statement to the country after the meeting of the Council of Ministers.

The measures take on extraordinary support from April to June for sectors particularly exposed to fuel rises, including transport, taxis, firefighters and social sector entities.

Government wants to extend ISP reduction mechanism by the end of the year

The Government will propose to Parliament the extension until 31 December of the temporary regime that allows the ISP rates on petrol and diesel to be lowered to compensate for the additional VAT revenue resulting from the rise in fuels.
