Ua 42-year-old man was arrested in Ferreira do Zêzere, in the district of Santarém, in possession of more than seven thousand images and videos of child sexual abuse, announced today the Judicial Police (PJ).
In a note, PJ pointed out that the man, arrested in flagrante delicto and “strongly indicted” for child pornography, was in custody after being present, on Wednesday, to a first judicial interrogation at the Santarém Judicial Court.
The man lived with a companion and two stepchildren, one of whom was minor, and was sentenced to imprisonment, suspended in his execution, precisely for the practice of identical crimes in 2022.
The investigation began in November 2025, following the discovery on the Internet of file sharing containing images and videos of sexual abuse, and it has been possible, over the past few months, to identify and locate the suspect, indicted as responsible for sharing that content.
During a home search of the suspect's residence, several computer equipment, such as computers, hard drives and mobile phones, were found and seized.
“ Preliminary analysis of the devices made it possible to identify more than seven thousand files relating to images and videos of sexual abuse of children, some of them of a young age, and this number may increase with the deepening of expert analysis of the seized equipment,” added the Judiciary, who indicated that the investigation will continue to establish the facts.
