O They will ensure today that they will not allow any amount of enriched uranium to leave the country and reiterated that the United States will have to fulfil Tehran's conditions to end the war.
“ Not even a tiny amount of enriched nuclear materials will leave Iran. They constitute an important asset and national wealth for the Iranian people,” said Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the National Security Council, quoted by state television.
The fate of the Iranian reserves of highly enriched uranium is one of the main points of divergence in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
The United States demands that the reserves be removed from Iranian territory, while Tehran advocates the dilution of uranium on national territory as the only solution.
Iran’s main negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated in the meantime that Tehran has “nothing new” to transmit to the United States and insisted on fulfilling the conditions previously presented by the Iranian regime.
“We have nothing new to say,” Ghalibaf said during a meeting with the Pakistani Army chief, Marshal Asim Munir.
Pakistan is one of the countries involved in mediating negotiations between Iran and the United States to try to end the conflict.
Ghalibaf, who is also President of the Iranian Parliament, referred again to the seven conditions presented by Tehran to the United States in New York, considering them the only way for peace and for the reopening of the Strait of Ormuz.
The differences on the Iranian nuclear programme remain among the main obstacles to negotiations, particularly because of the future of the highly enriched uranium reserves and the guarantees required by both parties.
