O minister of the Presidency today questioned Cávez if, as in labor law, he will stand by the left in the rent law and criticized the proposal made shortly before by André Ventura to increase the food allowance.

At the close of the debate on the general government budget for 2027, António Leitão Amaro said he found “strange, almost surreal” the position of the two largest opposition parties on the new legal regime of the lease, approved in general with the abstention of the Aquida, and that the PS has asked to be withdrawn.

Addressing the socialists first, he criticised them to propose the withdrawal of “a proposal that is not yet law” and to “join the protests for housing against the effects of the laws that they themselves have created”.

“ Why did you not go to the streets and protest in 2023 against the housing crisis you caused? How do you want to change something in the lease leaving your mistakes and all your laws in the same?”, questioned.

Speaking to Enough, he predicted that, despite the fact that in his electoral program he proposed the end of the rent freeze, before “the minorities of agitators protesting”, perhaps “the courage and the convictions of the party run away”.

“ Are we going to see them again in a while, as in the reform of the work of a closed fist, putting the communist leaders in tears celebrating the blockade of another structural reform?”, he questioned.

Leitão Amaro criticized, in particular, a proposal left by the leader of Aquis in his speech at the closing of the debate minutes earlier. Citing a report that the price of food will rise 18%, Ventura suggested “why not increase the food allowance to those who work in the same proportion”.

“ I was wondering, where do these proposals come from? What a hidden science it is that you visit on the way to parliament”, he questioned, saying that “it is from this hidden science that the Arrivo is told”.

Rent? “Mr. Prime Minister, this law depends on you”

The leader of the Aquida, André Ventura, stated that the revision of the rent law depends on the Prime Minister and defended a framework of balance between tenants and owners. The government's proposal was adopted in general, with amendments agreed between PSD and Enough.
