O Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, today delivered to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) a document in which he authorizes to lift his fiscal, banking and telephone confidentiality and his family if Flávio Bolsonaro does the same.
In the document, the Workers' Party (PT) candidate proposes the disclosure of data for the past eight years and challenges his opponent from the Liberal Party (PL) to disclose the secrecy of his family members, as well as the companies and ‘offshores’ linked to his name.
In the letter attached to the document, addressed to the president of the TSE, Judge Kássio Nunes Marques, Lula points out that public disclosure of the information “is fundamental” for the voter to decide who to vote for.
“ Public disclosure of the bank, tax and telephone data of the two candidates, prior to next Wednesday (21-10-2026), is fundamental for the Brazilian population to be properly informed and can freely decide on who will vote ", Lula wrote.
During a press conference in Brasilia, PT's secretary of communication, Eden Valadares, recalled that Flávio Bolsonaro is investigated in the Supreme Court in two investigations for suspected money laundering.
“ Our opponent responds, is investigated for corruption in two investigations in Justice. President Lula is honest man, has clean life ", said.
The idea of lifting the telephone and banking secrecy of both to show “who is the most honest” was suggested by the left-wing leader on Sunday night, during the first debate on television in which Flávio and Lula stood front and front.
During the debate, which took place a week from the second round, the two opponents exchanged accusations about polemics, corruption scandals and referred to each other as thieves.
Flávio even nicknamed the proposal "funny", because, he said, Lula "has no cell phone [telemobile]".
“My accounts are always open, everything that is mine is declared to the Revenue”, said the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday night.
