“ Ddue to adverse weather conditions, the Porto Book Fair stands open today at 13:00′′′, can be read in a note published on the event’s website.

In the same text, the organization clarifies that “the other sessions planned for the exterior take place inside the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library”, where the Prague Theatre presents, at 12:30, the show “Romeo & Juliet”.

The remaining parallel activities were “reprogrammed” to the inside of the library, which is also located in the Gardens of the Crystal Palace, making the entrance to the enclosure by the side access, at the entrance of conditioned mobility, on Manuel II Street.

Today is the second day when bad weather affects the Port Book Fair, after, on Monday, the selling stands have been closed all day.

On Monday, questioned by Lusa, the House of Porto explained that the plan is to open every day, “except if the weather conditions observed discourage it”.

On Sunday, the municipality noticed that around 41,000 visitors passed the fair in the first two days, in the case Friday and Saturday, more 7,000 than in the homologous period of 2025.

The 13th Port Book Fair includes more than 200 initiatives spread over 144 ‘stands’, taking place until September 6 and having honored the poet Inês Lourenço.

Eleven districts of mainland Portugal will be today under yellow warning due to the forecast of rainy or rainy periods, which may be sometimes strong and accompanied by thunderstorms.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the yellow warning due to precipitation will come into force at 06:00 in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto and Aveiro.

In these four districts, the yellow warning of thunder will also be in effect, in the face of the “favorable conditions” for rain accumulation between 10 and 20 mm per hour and gusts of wind between 70 and 90 km/h.

The yellow warning was in effect until 12:00 in Porto and Aveiro and until 3:00 in Viana do Castelo and Braga.

The yellow level is the least severe of a three-scale and is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.

The IPMA provides for today on the continent periods of rain or showers, sometimes strong in the North and Center, strong wind in the west coast and in the highlands and a small drop in temperature, especially the maximum.
