Pthey 14:45 in Lisbon, the Dow Jones lost 0.20% to 52.470.67 points and the Nasdaq retreated 1.14% to 26,033.21 points.

At the same time, the S&P 500 decreased 0.68% to 7,604,64 points.

The investors reacted with concern to the appeal of the leaders of some of the main companies in the sector, who on the weekend asked for a slowdown in the development of AI systems.

Last week, Anthropic investigator Jacob Coxon, who also worked for OpenAI, filed his resignation, considering that the company was not acting responsibly or giving due attention to safety.

On Saturday, anthropic’s executive president, Dario Amodei, called for a slowdown in the pace at which AI models are being developed, warning that a dynamic of “recursive self-improvement” can result in cybersecurity disasters worldwide.

OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, echoed the appeal and said it would allow independent evaluators to audit their systems.

Also Musk, whose SpaceX holds SpaceXAI repeated the appeal.

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, minimized the alert and asked not to give in to China, with which the United States competes for leadership in the AI, but Washington did not stop the falls in the stock exchange.

Nvidia, a reference company in the sector, lost 4.18%, Marvell Technology retreated 8.98%, Intel 7.18% and AMD 6.17%.

In other markets, gold dropped 2.16% to $4,313 and silver 2.68% to $63.44.

Texas oil went up to 104 dollars a barrel as Brent grew 4.4% and exceeded 109 dollars.
