“ I saw a director of the Public Security Police (PSP) recognize what I said when I was Minister of Internal Administration, that is, this false mystification of open borders is indeed a mystification because, as now said the person responsible for the Border Unit of PSP, immigrants arrive by car and train ", said.

At the entrance to meetings with business associations in Matosinhos, in the district of Porto, the socialist reacted to the alert, made by the deputy national director of PSP and responsible for the National Foreign and Border Unit (UNEF) of PSP, for an increase of irregular immigrants arriving by train and bus to the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto from other European cities.

“ I hope that this clue that has now given the PSP's head will serve so that those who have made frivolous statements on this subject can, once and for all, understand what is going on with migration flows ", said.

José Luís Carneiro considered that the “mystification of open borders” was a “fallacy” constituted by the right that, in the meantime, reached the government with the support of the extreme right.

So, he added, this is a good time for this “mystification” to be demystified and deconstructed.

“ I would also like to say that, having seen this point at World Youth Day (WYD), at the time as Minister of Internal Administration, I gave guidance in the Internal Security System so that the regulation and control of road operations by GNR could be of a different intensity because it is clear that the flows [migrants] come to the country from other European countries in secondary movements of migrants”, he concluded.
