“ Din response to the massive attacks launched this morning by the Russian Federation against Ukraine — including the Odessa region — an unidentified drone briefly entered the airspace of the Moldovan Republic,” said the Moldovan Ministry of Defense, citing data from the Air Operations Service, in a statement.
The Ministry detailed that the drone crossed the border at 8:56 on time (06:56 in Lisbon) coming from Biliaivka, Ukraine, towards Tudora, Moldova.
Just a few minutes later, at 08:58 local time (06:58 in Lisbon), “went out of national airspace,” added the Moldovan Defense Ministry, specifying that the exit took place from the locality of Palanca towards Lake Davidove Liman, already in Ukrainian territory.
“The Air Operations Service continues to monitor airspace in coordination with national authorities and their partners to ensure public safety,” the statement concluded.
Moldova has been the scene of incidents related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which took place on 24 February 2022.
One of the most serious occurred last week, when two people died and three were injured in a Russian attack against a Ukrainian checkpoint on the border with Moldova, causing temporary closure of the passage.
Russia attacked massively today Kyiv and the regions of Zaporijia and Odessa, causing two dozen wounded.
