News to Minutes

Davina Sheffield, one of the ex-girlfriends of King Charles III, who was even considered his “soul mate”, died at the age of 75 on September 2.

The news was confirmed by his three sons: Thomas, William and Henry, who did not mention, however, the cause of death, only announcing that it was a “short illness”.

The family also reported that a ceremony will take place as a celebration of their lives on November 2.

Davina and Charles began dating in 1976, and she was even pointed out as a possible future queen. At the time, royalty experts described her as Carlos’ “soul twin”, and the couple were seen in numerous public events.

The current king of England even took his girlfriend as his companion to a wedding, which reinforced the idea that the relationship was serious. Shortly thereafter, Davina was seen sitting next to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at a riding event and shortly thereafter she went to Balmoral to meet the royal family, including the Queen Mother.

But the romance ended when Davina's ex-boyfriend, James Beard, publicly revealed that they had lived together before. At the time the heir to the throne would have to have a bride “undefiled” in her reputation, and courtship thus saw her end.

Charles married Diana in 1981, and Davina married Jonathan Morley five months later in the same year. Davina was the granddaughter of the first Lord McGowan, president of Imperial Chemical Industries. She was also a cousin of Samantha Cameron, David Cameron's wife.
