Mquino, the labrador dog who was decorated for helping save several people after the earthquakes that shook Venezuela, in June.
The labrador animal had been suffering for two months, without the veterinarians being able to diagnose its problem, says Telecicno.
“ His lungs began to fill with blood and he returned to a multiorganic failure that affected the liver and kidneys, and died. He couldn’t take it anymore,” explains Moisés Benlloch, a firefighter at the NGO Intervention, Help and Rescue (IAE), Valencia, and to which Quino belonged.
Quino died on Saturday, September 12, at the veterinary clinic of the Catholic University of Valencia, where the owner of the animal, Pancho, went looking for help to save his four-legged friend, after having already passed through other clinics, in Spain, France, Argentina and the United States. None of them could detect the origin of the dog’s health problem.
Quino and Pancho are members of the NGO IAE, which operates in rescue and rescue situations and were scheduled to help in the relief work in Venezuela, after the two earthquakes that shook the country.
Quino's clinical picture had already been reported in Spain and a fundraising was created to try to find a diagnosis and a cure for the animal. The amount collected made it possible to pay the visits to the various places it passed, but they did not serve to save the animal, whose name is, however, for the history of the institution.
Venezuela was affected, on June 24, by two earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 that occurred 200 kilometers from Caracas, less than a minute apart, and were followed by hundreds of replicas, according to the United States Geological Service. Over 6,000 people died.
