The event, organized by Teatro do Mar company, takes place until Sunday and brings together nearly 30 free shows from 21 companies from four countries.

“M.A.R. does not just happen in Sines, it happens to Sines,” said the artistic director and programmer of the show, Julieta Aurora Santos, in statements to the agency Lusa.

According to the responsible, the show returns this year to “deepen the relationship between artistic creation and territory” and returns with new spaces, inviting “the public to travel and rediscover the city” through the “different landscapes”.

“ We want the journey between the shows itself to be part of the experience and that the city is no longer just the place where the shows happen to become an integral part of them”, he explained.

M.A.R. starts, at 18:00, with the circus and ‘clown’ show entitled “B.O.B.A.S.”, by the Spanish company Jimena Cavalletti, followed by the show “Bien Parado”, by the French Collectif La Méandre, on the terrace near the Port of Recreio.

One of the main highlights of the first day is “(Com) Sequence”, by Daniel Seabra/Chaotic Circo, scheduled for 9:00 p.m., at Largo de Nossa Senhora das Salas, with the participation of elements of the local community who previously attended a preparation workshop.

On the second day, the show proposes an activity for children and families, in the Garden of Discoveries, and offers the public 14 shows in different spaces, highlighting the performances of the formations Kiaï, Circus Carpa Diem and Laia Santanach.

The main highlight of the night is the travelling spectacle of music, percussion and pyrotechnics “Su Talka”, by the Spanish company Deabru Beltzak, beginning in Largo 5 October and passing through several streets of the city.

On Sunday, the public will be able to attend, from 3:00 p.m., the installation “Testelação para toes despaços”, by Amadeu Pinto da Silva, and the walking performance “Let’s go for a drive?” by Ricardo Vaz Trindade and Marta Félix.

M.A.R. closes with the itinerant musical show “Possê”, by the Spanish company Sound de Secà, beginning at Largo 5 October, starting at 17:00.
