O spokesman of the movement for housing in protest since Saturday in Porto, João Silveira, reported that they will not spend the next morning in Praça D. João I, claiming lack of conditions to do so.
“ Today we will not stay here, we will demobilize after the assembly because we will not be able to meet all the material conditions to stay here sleeping”, said the responsible for 21:15 to journalists.
According to João Silveira demobilization will take place after the end of the assembly, which takes place since about 7:00 p.m. and has gathered several hundred people, a part of them waiting to speak to the present.
“ Tomorrow we will resume in force, we will be at the demonstration of CGTP at 10:30, in the Battle Square, which will parade here, to D. Praça João I, where we will stay until 19:00, time to make our assembly ", added João Silveira.
Remembering that they have permission from the House of Porto and that they can stay until 12:30, they want to give voice to all the testimonies of those who signed up.
On Thursday night, from 7:00 p.m., about three thousand people concentrated to demonstrate by the right to housing, following a camp that began on Saturday and had municipal cleaning intervention on Monday, first, and a police charge in the early hours of Thursday, after which resulted four dozen wounded, with the organization ensuring that it was always peaceful and the PSP to defend that there was “resistance”.
The last concentration moved for a few minutes to the House of Porto, in front of which the protest took place before returning to the square D. João I in which it has been running since the beginning.
The organizers called for the return to the site on Saturday, with the city's permission, throughout the day, in parallel with the action called for that day by CGTP.
