A Samsung has failed to release new updates for two of his watches, namely the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The two models were launched in August 2021 and, with five years on the market, the South Korean company decided to stop launching new software versions for watches.
The news was shared by Samsung itself with the list of devices that will receive software updates with security fixes during this September. Thus, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic received their latest security updates in August.
Remember that Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were Samsung's first watches to receive Google's operating system developed especially for this type of wearables, Wear OS.
Up until then, Samsung launched its watches with the pre-installed Tizen operating system, and it was with these two 2021 models that Samsung watches started to be released with the Wear OS.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic received four years of new versions of Wear OS and several security updates that will thus no longer be released for watches. Therefore, it is possible that users want to consider buying new watches if they want to continue to be accompanied by devices with the latest updates.
Remember that Samsung announced in July a new generation of its smart watches with Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
