Uthe 40-year-old woman was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) on Monday afternoon, on Avenida Fernão de Magalhães, in Coimbra, for suspicions of offenses to physical integrity.

According to this security force, everything happened around 2:25 yesterday.

The victim was waiting for a bus at the stop of the Municipalized Urban Transport Services of Coimbra (SMTUC) when she was struck in the back by a gun.

The woman sought help in the Portuguese Red Cross of Coimbra and the operatives called the authority to the site.

The offender immediately identified to the police the alleged perpetrator of the assault, information corroborated by a witness in person who saw the suspect strike the victim.

Allegedly, the aggression was motivated by personal disagreements.

The suspicion was, however, “interceded in the vicinity by family members of the offended woman and later handed over to the PSP, who arrested her”.

The white gun allegedly used in the assault was seized, and the victim was transported to a hospital to receive medical treatment.

The occurrence was reported to the Judicial Police (JP) and the Public Prosecutor (MP), “the processing of the case in the special form of summary proceedings, with the defendant’s submission to the judicial authority, has been determined”.

Given the lack of permanent residence of the prisoner and the need to safeguard the protection of the victim, “their stay in police custody has been determined until their judicial presentation”.
