Proof of Life has been extended to more pensioners
After all, there are more pensioners who have to take Proof of Life this year. The Social Security Institute (ISS) announced the extension of this measure to pensioners living in Canada.
“The mandatory annual proof of living has been extended to pensioners living in Canada, a country now joining Belgium, Cape Verde Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Switzerland,” can be read in a publication shared by the public body on Instagram’s social network.
According to the ISS, “this step is essential to ensure that you continue to receive your old-age, invalidity or survivors’ pension”.
“ The fastest and most convenient way to do this is the Digital Life Proof, through a simple face check on the phone or computer in the App or Social Security Portal ", recommends the public body.
In addition, there are other alternatives: “If you can’t use digital channels, you can still do it in a Presidential way (at Consulates, Embassies or Attachees) or Documental (sending the Certificate of Proof of Life filled out)”.
“Avoid movements and queues. Access our digital channels and take care of everything with complete security and speed”, advises the ISS.
On 31 July last year, legislation has entered into force that obliges Portuguese people living in Luxembourg and Switzerland to receive invalidity, old age or survival pensions from Portuguese Social Security to prove that they are alive annually.
