A Apple presented financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year of the company, an occasion that served not only to reveal positive aspects and leave warnings (worried) for the future, but also to present the one that will be the new CEO of the Apple Company from September 1.
Tim Cook booked a part of the results presentation to talk about John Ternus, the company's former hardware vice president who is the person chosen for the position of Apple CEO. Cook took the opportunity to praise Ternus and a message of confidence.
“ The transition is going smoothly and I am very excited to see John [Ternus] take over his new position and lead Apple in its next era.”, said Tim Cook, who, after 15 years ahead of Apple, will become chairman of the board of directors of the company.
“[John Ternus] is really unique and there is no better person to take over Apple’s leadership. As I said, I couldn't be more confident about your leadership, our executive team and the extraordinary people at Apple, who are determined to enrich the lives of all users around the world. We have a bright future ahead of us and I've never been so optimistic. So thank you all”, said Cook according to mashable site.
Despite Cook's optimism, the presentation of results was also the time for Apple executives to leave a worrying message about the future.
Despite the 54 billion dollars generated by the iPhone (a 22% increase over the same period last year) and the 10 billion dollars of the Mac division (thanks to MacBook Neo), Apple company will soon have to deal with problems with component supply.
How does the site 9to5mac, the CFO of the technological giant, Kevan Parekh, stated that “the impact of supply restrictions increases significantly” from september and over the following months.
Cook himself admitted that the possibility of increasing the prices of brand products, including the iPhone, thanks to increases in component costs, such as RAM, is not out of the question.
“As far as prices are concerned, we increase values reluctantly”, said Cook, noting that the company is “assess all options” not to be forced to pass on the cost to consumers.
