New electric FIAT is not a car and reminds of an old classic

FIAT chose the IAA Transportation in Hanover to introduce Tris. Fully electric, having three wheels is not a car – remembering the classic Piaggio Ape. It should take up to 430 kg of cargo.

There's a new electric FIAT, which is not a car: the Tris, presented at the IAA Transportation in Hanover (Germany) has three wheels and is thought for last mile services, visually referring to the classic Piaggio Ape.

Yes, it is, a vehicle intended for urban environments and short journeys to transport objects such as deliveries, promising to combine small dimensions at low operating costs in a 100 percent electric approach.

The battery is 6.9 kWh, providing up to 90 km of autonomy. The turning radius is only 3.05 meters. Unlike the Tris Pick-up presented earlier this year, this Tris has doors, so it is best protected against weather conditions.

Associated with different modular configurations, Tris can be Pick-Up, Cargo, Chassis-Cable and Platform. The version for Europe should be approved to carry up to 430 kg of payload, although FIAT notes that the value is dependent on the approval process.

Who looks at the FIAT? Tris, you may recall the classic Piaggio Ape, also a closed tricycle with a covered cargo compartment with space only for one person on board – the driver. However, it has a very modern design.

The notice of FIAT did not specify prices or advance with a date of arrival of the new tricycle on the market.

FIAT's birthday and revealed the future with the new Grizzly

FIAT turned 127 this Saturday (11 May), on an occasion that pointed to the future – by revealing the new Grizzly SUV and Grizzly Fastback. However, details have not yet been released.
