ANDmbora o cancer is usually known to be a silent disease, some of them, before developing, show signs in various ways.

Recent studies suggest that the colorectal cancer can reveal strong development indicators, for example, through the saliva.

Researchers in the study “Signatures of microbial transmission from mouth to intestine allow a robust and noninvasive diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers” published in Cell Host & Microbe, state that it all starts in the mouth.

According to these experts, the mouth microbiome may hide a “hidden pattern”. However, when properly analyzed, it can function as a “window” that can detect changes associated with digestive system cancers.

What was the purpose of this investigation?

In addition to the unlikely discovery, these experts stress that what is intended is to make science less invasive.

This scientific advance therefore requires that through a simple oral sample, much less invasive, it may be sufficient to determine whether someone has some kind of gastrointestinal cancer or not. Or even if you are at risk of developing colorectal cancer.

Cited by Science Alert, Jihyun Kim, one of the authors of the study and biologist at Yonsei University in South Korea, it is said that “many species of microorganisms associated with the mouth are also present in the intestine and that is where they can really thrive.”.

“The presence of bacteria associated with the oral route in the intestine of cancer patients was not entirely unexpected,” adds Sun Ha Jee, an epidemiologist at Yonsei University.

Although the results have been evident, researchers clarify that there is still much work to be done before starting to implement this type of oral examination in order to make fully correct diagnoses.

However, until then, as a means of preventing the development of intestinal cancers, these experts reinforce the importance of maintaining good oral health.

Habit that increases cancer risk can be corrected within 3 minutes

A recent study reveals that sedentary habits increase the risk of cancer, but small changes, such as just three minutes of exercise, can make a significant difference in health.
