O german Kosta Runjaic was fired from the technical command of Udinese, 19th and penultimately ranked of the Italian Football League, after 10 rounds, having been replaced by Paolo Zanetti, today announced the transalpine club.
“Udinese Calcio announces Kosta Runjaic’s resignation from the main team coaching position. The paths of the technician and the ‘bianconeri’ are separated after more than two years marked by the achievement of important goals,” said Udinese, who comes from a heavy home defeat (5-2) in front of Rome, Rodrigo Mora.
Shortly after the announcement of Runjaic's departure, Udinese made the arrival of Paolo Zanetti — who has already commanded teams such as Venice, Empoli and Verona — with a valid contract until the end of the current season.
Under Runjaic's command—which had previous passages by Kaiserslautern and Legia Warsaw—the Udinese finished the championship in its 12th position in its first season (2024-25) and in its 10th place in the following season.
With Runjaic leaving, Udine became Serie's fifth club Since the beginning of the season to fire his coach, after, after 10 journeys, he has added only five points and lost seven of the last eight games.
The German technician joined the list of dismissed Fabio Grosso (dismissed by Fiorentina after the third day), Domenico Tedesco (dismissed by Bologna after the fourth), Carlos Cuesta (fired by Parma after the fifth) and Davide Nicola (dismissed by Venice Friday).
