A portuguese music lives a week of huge goodbyes. After the death of Luís Represas, consecrated national musician, we cry the departure of two drummers dear to the musical panorama.
Early in the afternoon of Thursday, July 23, the death of Portuguese drummer Vicky Marques was reported. Several singers and musicians, including Aurea, publicly lamented the loss.
Hours later there were tributes to another drummer, Nando Santos, who also died in recent days.
“ This week two friends left, two music companions, two drummers who were part of my life in different ways”, lamented Sérgio Esteves, vocalist and guitarist known as Sérginni – was part of bands like Heart of Rock Band.
“Nando Santos, who was the first drummer of the BIG, had previously been with him in the Atlantic Band, great band, among other musical projects, artists, studio, etc. With him I shared the stage hundreds of times, many trips and countless moments of music and life. It was many years of stories, complicity and friendship that I will always take with me”, one can read in a heartfelt tribute.
“ With Vicky Marques, I came across less often on stage, but they were all exceptional, I can say that we spoke the same language with our eyes... there are also the countless concerts where I was lucky enough to belong to his audience, always attentive to everything he did, the good conversations, the unique moments and this passion for music that always brought us together. I still remember how and when I met him in person, I was at the dances and he always had that smile.. Today, the song lost two of its best hits. I lost two colleagues and friends I won't forget. I learned so much from them. It helped a lot to build the musician and the person I am today. So long, Nando and Vicky“, it ended.
Also the musician Bruno Correia, winner of the talent program “Rising Star”, lamented the death of Nando Santos.
“Nando... I'm in shock. I just got word of your departure. Today has been so sad and I end up with one more punch in the stomach. You believed me, you gave me your hand, when all the other ones just promised me worlds and funds. You managed to put two of my themes in soap operas”, noted the artist, being deeply grateful to his friend and colleague.
“ And every time you saw me smile like you smile in this video, sitting on the drums. Every time I came to the studio, meetings or your house, you said, "The best voice in this country has come." Keep fighting and you're gone! I'm unbelieving. Thank you humbly for everything. Almost or nothing you did, like you said. Thank you. Rest in peace. Kisses to the whole family. I am sad”, completed.
