Sand I thought the color of the children's bathing suit was just a matter of aesthetics, you're wrong. It is actually related to the safety of the little ones during this summer, either in swimming pools, at sea or even in the river. A pediatrician pointed out which colors should be used to keep children safe.
On his social networks, José Coentrão of the Pediatric School left a video in which throws the challenge of being able to understand how many children are diving. In the end he realizes that the colors of the swimsuits are fundamental to being able to see where the little ones are.
Summer safety: The importance of the color of the swimsuit
“The identification of the child is very important for her safety. The use of bold colors makes this identification very easy. Not only in swimming pools, but especially in river and sea”, commented in the publication.

On the Cleveland Clinic website, pediatrician Richard So left a few more warnings about the most secure and important colors to take into account during this time of vacation. One of the issues is related to the visibility that children have underwater when they are diving. The highlight that garnered colors have becomes of extreme importance.
“Vibrant color bathing suit can facilitate the child's visualization in the water. It helps when your eyes have a lot to filter, whether people, waves, reflexes or other children moving in the water”, says the pediatrician.
From the neon green, to the yellow, pink and orange, vibrant colors are essential to keep them always visible even under water. The goal is always to bet on a color that allows it to be seen underwater and with reflections that allows it to be accompanied while nothing or playing.
“The busier or less controlled the environment, the more I recommend vibrant colors. If you are on the beach, on a boat or swimming in open sea, fluorescent colors tend to stand out better.”
The colors of swimsuit to avoid
On the other hand, neutral colors end up being more problematic, such as black, blue and darker shades. They may be more elegant and better for the photos, but they can be tricky to detect when they're underwater.
They are colors that can be lost at the bottom of the sea, the pool and even in lakes. White people are also avoidable. “Try to avoid colors that mix with the water or the environment around you. Blue, green, black and other dark tones can create a camouflage effect, making them harder to see” continues the pediatrician.
Attention also to some kind of patterns. The dark can be something problematic and complicated to see. “Consider the color of the bathing suit as another layer of protection, but not as a substitute for careful supervision of children near the water.”
