“ Non Thursday, September 17, the Civil Defense of Taif province dealt with the fall of shrapnel of a drone, after intercepted and destroyed, which had been launched by the terrorist militia of the Huthis, and this caused the death of a resident of Yemeni nationality ", declared the Civil Defense in a message published in its official social network account X.

Also a Saudi woman was injured and a Pakistani citizen is in critical condition, announced the same source, also referring damage to various buildings and vehicles.

So far, the Huthis have not reacted to this attack on Taif Province, located in southwest Saudi Arabia and east of Mecca, the most sacred place in Islam.

This also occurred more than 24 hours after Saudi Arabia accused the Huthis of launching a drone against Mecca, a claim that the Yemeni rebels denied.

In recent days, the Huthis, whose main ally is Iran, have escalated their offensive against Saudi Arabia, which leads the military coalition that has been intervening in Yemen against the rebels for over a decade.

The Huthis also claimed several attacks on energy and military infrastructure in the Arab kingdom since in July this year the ‘de facto’ truce between the two parties, mediated by the UN in 2022, broke.

On the other hand, the East-West pipeline, which until last Friday allowed the world's largest oil exporter to transport up to seven million barrels daily, remains closed by the Saudi authorities, after a week's attack by drones that Riyadh assured were launched from Iraq, apparently by militias aligned with Iran, although both these groups and Tehran denied any involvement in the attack.
