Pthey 19h30, in Sala Suggia, the pianist joins Anders Christensen, in the bass, and André Sousa Machado, in the drums, for a concert that, according to the organization in a statement, “cross sophistication, improvisation and innovation in the jazz universe”.
Among the novelties of this edition is the “Piano Garden”, artistic installation by New Zealander Annea Lockwood, who will be in the gardens of the Serralves Foundation, where he will remain for at least one year.
In this work, “a piano will be delivered to the growth of the vegetation around it, to weather and to time”, and the goal is to “create a link between music and nature”.
On Sunday, it is the turn of Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko to take the stage, in the rectory of the University of Porto, after winning the international Leeds piano contest in England.
In the next few days, names like José Ramón Méndez, who was present in all editions of the festival, and Nuno Marques, artistic director of Piano Fest, who will present on Tuesday the album “Pennas d’Amor, Fados para Piano”.
The Italian Saskia Giorgini premieres at the event on August 8, at the Courtyard of Romantic, and the closing concert is for Tamara Stefanovich, at the Serralves Museum.
The festival also presents the lunchtime concerts, of free entry, starring young pianists on the rise, in the Romantic Museum, and there is also room for the smaller ones at the annual concert for families, on August 8th, at the Common House of the University of Porto.
