A Judicial Police (JP) has developed in the context of international cooperation, a set of steps that have led to the location and detention, in the Vila Real area, of a 37-year-old national sought by the Luxembourg judicial authorities for the crime of falsification of documents.
In a statement sent this Saturday to the newsrooms, the inspectors reveal that the man, on whom a European arrest warrant was based, “is suspected of falsifying a contract concerning the sale of a vehicle”.
The contract was forged with the intention of “simulating a sale that never took place, nor was it genuinely intended”.
The only objective was to create “the appearance of a transfer of ownership of the vehicle, since the now detained was subject to criminal proceedings and sought, by all means, to avoid maintaining the seizure of his vehicle”.
With his action he tried to mislead the judge to order the delivery of the seized vehicle. It also simulated a bank transfer amounting to EUR 10 thousand to make it believe that it had actually sold the vehicle and received the value of the sale.
For these reasons, he may be sentenced to 10 years in prison in Luxembourg.
The prisoner was, however, already present to the Guimarães Relation Court, which determined that he would await the subsequent terms of the process under preventive arrest.
