O They will not tolerate the use of the strait for aggression and “to impose insecurity” in the region, Masoud Pezeshkian declared before the UN General Assembly.

“They closed our access to our own territorial waters,” condemned the Iranian leader, alluding to the United States’ naval blockade of the Islamic Republic, used as a retaliation for the interruption of commercial navigation applied by Tehran more than six months ago in the Strait of Ormuz.

At the same time, the United States uses “lethal missiles and technologies to sow insecurity in all areas bordering this waterway,” the President of Iran accused during his speech at the annual leadership session in New York.

Iran “was never an aggressor, never started a war,” said Pezeshkian, noting that, on the contrary, its people are being “victim of terrorism” and “cowardly attacks” of the United States, the day after American President Donald Trump threatened to “anniquilate” the Islamic Republic.

“ Yesterday, Trump said we were terrorists. We are not terrorists, we are victims of terrorism, and they martyred our leader for no reason,” said Pezeshkia, referring to the former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, killed in an air strike on the first day of the Israeli-American offensive on 28 February.

The only representative of the US delegation present at the session left the room when the Iranian leader accused Washington of terrorism.

“ Those who are terrorists and train terrorists describe us as such,” Pezeshkian said, insisting, “We are not terrorists.”.

During his speech, the President of Iran exhibited photographs of Ali Khamenei and more than 150 school-age children killed in the early days of the war, which continues to be unending after the collapse of indirect negotiations in June.

On Tuesday, Trump confirmed the holding of a meeting in the margins of the UN General Assembly between representatives from Washington and Tehran, but without further details.

On the same day, Trump stated, in his speech to the UN leadership session, that he had to choose between “annihilating” Iran or reaching an agreement, predicting that a diplomatic solution could only be found after the mid-term elections to the US Congress, scheduled for the beginning of November.

In response, Masoud Pezeshkia reaffirmed today that Tehran will not be intimidated by the threats of the leader of the White House.

“We will never bow our heads,” said the Iranian President, addressing Donald Trump once again: “He needs to know that the resistance of the Iranian people will only increase in the face of sanctions, pressure and intimidation.”.
