O prime Minister Louis Montenegro today described the shooting in Krakow, Poland as “an act of unexplained violence”, which resulted in at least six deaths and several injuries, including a Portuguese citizen.
In a publication on the social network ‘X’, the chief executive wrote that “the attack that killed several people in Krakow and made numerous wounded, including a Portuguese citizen, is an act of unexplained violence”.
“Poland is a friendly and partner country in building a Europe with peace and prosperity. At this difficult moment we express our solidarity and support for the Polish people,” the Prime Minister added in the same publication.
At least six people died and several were injured in the centre of Krakow, Poland, after a man had opened fire indiscriminately against passers-by and had been neutralized by the police.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed this afternoon that a Portuguese citizen is among the wounded in the attack.
In statements to SIC News, the Secretary of State of the Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, explained that the 74-year-old woman was in Krakow to visit a granddaughter who is in the city under the Erasmus programme and was shot by a bullet during the shooting.
“ The information we have is that it will already have been operated and that it will be safe from danger,” said the governor, adding that the Portuguese ambassador to Poland is already on his way to Krakow for more information.
