News to Minutes

O prince Harry left his post in a wildlife conservation charity in Africa after the forest guards were accused of committing human rights violations against indigenous populations.

The news was confirmed by the spokesman of the Duke of Sussex who was the president of this organization, called African Parks, for six years and a member of the administrative board for three years. Despite his departure, Harry continues to “support the mission.”.

It is recalled that in 2025 the organization even admitted that human rights violations were committed by its forest guards in Congo-Brazzaville.

Prince Harry's spokesman stated: “The Duke is proud of his ten years with African Parks and supports the continued strengthening of his council. His commitment to conservation in Africa remains, and he continues to support the African Parks mission. African Parks manages about 20 national parks and protected areas in 12 countries,” said the spokesman.

This organization was the subject of a human rights investigation, after there were reports that some guards had beaten, raped and tortured indigenous people in the National Park of Odzala-Kokoua.

After this decision, the organization thanked Harry for his collaboration, pointing out that the prince “bringed global attention to the urgent need to protect biodiversity for the benefit of people and wildlife, and contributed significantly to promoting philanthropy for conservation in Africa.”.

This decision of the Duke takes place a few days after the announcement of the change of his family to the United Kingdom that will take place this month.
